Purpose Statement:
To achieve a consensus of citizens, businesses and churches to influence the decision on
selection of the Seminole County Wekiva Parkway Expressway alignment so
as to
mitigate any negative effects of a selected alignment on our communities,
and to represent that consensus to the Seminole County Expressway Authority
(SCEA) and other relevant political and governmental authorities.Coalition Members:
The Wekiva Parkway Community Coalition (WPCC) is comprised of homeowner associations, businesses, churches, and individuals which will be impacted by the proposed alignment. Over 2,000 County

John Horan
defeats Seminole County Commissioner Michael McLean in 10 September
primary. Under pressure from lobbyists, McLean had voted in favor
of the Interlocal Agreement. The WPCC endorsed Horan who opposed
the Agreement. |

On 10 August,
the Seminole County Commissioners approved an Interlocal Agreement, ceding
all authority regarding design, construction, operation, and ROW
acquisition in Seminole County to the OOCEA.

to reject the Wekiva Parkway Interlocal Agreement in its current form. |

SC BCC reverses
position on the Interlocal Agreement: Just 2 weeks after sending
the draft proposed agreement back to the OOCEA, with words conditioning
the agreement's implementation to granting
Seminole County a voting seat on the Authority, the Commissioners backed
down and removed the language.
